Who should attend?

This 2-Day CPD Course on Hydrology & Hydraulics is targeted at Civil & Environmental Engineers as well as Environmental Scientists, engaged in the investigation, planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of Hong Kong’s Stormwater Drainage Systems. The Course is also relevant to professionals engaged in water resources engineering and wastewater management.

Ir CHAN has over 35 years professional experience with Hong Kong Government working in wastewater treatment and flood management. For the later, he has been involved in many projects & activities of regional and transboundary significance, including design of Shenzhen River Regulation, formulation of Territorial Land Drainage and Flood Control Strategy, design and construction of Yuen Long River Training and Polder Schemes, Drainage Master Planning, Flood Monitoring & Reporting and Research & Development. In 2014, Ir CHAN was awarded an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Chapter of the International Association of Hydro-environment Engineering & Research (IAHR-HK), in recognition of his dedication and vision to life-long learning for hydraulic engineers and contributions to design & construction hydro-environment engineering projects. He retired from the civil service as an Assistant Director of the Drainage Services Department in 2015. Since then, he has devoted much effort to civil and environmental engineering education, being Professor of Practice (Infrastructure) of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) until 2018 and Adjunct Professor of University of Hong Kong (HKU) until now. In addition, he has been a highly sought after speaker at professional institutions’ seminars and continuous professional development courses for scientists and engineers.
