Synopsis

The Law of Contracts affects our daily life and activities. A good grasp of the law by Engineers, Architects and Environmental Professionals who are planning to make deals and agreements with others could help save their time, money and headaches down the road. This 2-day workshop series will provide non-lawyers with a taste of the law and a general overview of the implications through case studies.

Day 1 Nature, Elements, Types, Forms, Conditions, Innominate terms, Warranties, Indemnities, Express Terms, Implied Terms, Governing Laws, Negotiation and Drafting
Day 2 Misrepresentation, Mistakes, Duress, Undue Influence, Unconscionability, Illegality and Public Policy, Privity, Breach, Frustration, Discharge, Enforceability, Termination, Damages and Remedies

 

The workshop will be delivered in Cantonese (supplemented with English).

Professional Experience

Dr Wong graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London. He is a holder of a PhD degree in Law, a Chartered Marketer, a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply and a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Dr Wong had worked in HSBC and Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong and London for over 2 decades, covering Corporate Banking, Compliance and Quality Management. Dr Wong is a practising barrister and accredited mediator as well as visiting lecturer for contract, insurance and tendering law in educational institutions.
