Synopsis of the Seminar
Fire Engineering is the adoption of fire science to formulate fire safety solutions or mitigate measures for modern building or structures having complex or voluminous design based on identified hazards, assessing risks and gauging human response in fire situation. In this seminar, a brief introduction on fire science with emphasis on fire phenomenon and development will be conducted. An account on the past fire engineering designs will be elaborated. To secure the overall fire safety of the building, fire safety management and audit systems will be introduced.

Design Architects, Engineers, Facility Managers, Consultants, Advisors, Contractors, Personnel and Managers involved in the design, management, engineering, operations and fire safety of buildings and stations.
Instructor
Ir Dr Fred K W LAU is the former programme leader of the Fire Engineering programme which is offered by the University of Central Lancashire, UK and is administered by the School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) City University of HK. He has more than forty years’ practical experience in fire engineering.
Qualifications
PhD in Fire Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer (Fire & BS), Engineers Registration Board, Hong Kong
Chartered Engineer (Fire Engineering), Engineering Council (UK)
Working Language Cantonese
