Instructor

Ir Lam Pui Kay

Experience

Mr. Lam Pui Kay is a seasoned Chartered Mechanical Engineer with over forty years’ experience in the gas and engineering industries. He has acquired all-round skills in the design, production, operations and maintenance of gases production plants / supply system and complete handling of industrial gases including oxygen, hydrogen and electronic special gases or chemicals. He has over ten years’ hand-on experience in most types of gases production and operations.  Fourteen years before his retirement, he became the Regional Director responsible for SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, Security and Compliance) of one of a leading gases and engineering companies in the world with business covering over 100 countries worldwide.

Since the 1980s, Mr. Lam had supported the Safe Operation of Electronic Gas for the First Generation of Semi-conductors (Hua Ko, RCL & Elcap) in Hong Kong. In the 2000s, Mr. Lam was further appointed to oversee the SHEQ in the Northern Asia Region (Mainland China, Taiwan and South Korea etc.) including the Electronic Industry covering several famous companies like TSMC (臺積電), Samsung, Intel, BOE (京東方) etc. After his retirement, he continued to support the electronic industry regarding Safety & Quality for his clients that serving the business at Panda (熊貓電子), CSOT (華星光電), Huawei (華爲), Nexchip Semiconductor (晶合積體電路) and CXMT (長鑫存儲) etc.

Before the pandemic Mr. Lam had been a Trainer in the Design & Safe Operations of Electronic Gases for the Talent Exchange Centre, Ministry of Industry & Information Technology, PRC 國家工信部人才交流中心(芯動力).

Currently, Mr. Lam is a specialist adviser for the majoritiy of the high-end microelectronics service providers in China. For example, he is supporting a Leading Gases Group in Mainland China and supporting the client for its first Super Critical Carbon Dioxide Facility in Mainland China regarding its Quality & Safety, meeting extremely stringent purity standards not below any Ultra High Purity Gases in the general Electronic Industry.

Having handled over 30 critical incidents regarding electronic gases or chemicals (Hydrogen, Oxygen, Acetylene, Arsine, Silane, Chlorine, Dichlorosilane, TMAH and Hydrogen Peroxide etc.), he has strong confidence in preventing any similar incident from happening again.

Apart from that, Mr. Lam had supported the risk assessment of the “Hydrogen Fuel Cell Tram” in Dubai preparing for the “World Expo Dubai 2020”. After that, he continued to act as a consultant to support the development of the “Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle” in Mainland China particularly the “High-efficient Fuel Cell Vehicle Filling” in Mainland China. Up to the end of 2025, PK Lam has already achieved 10 patents / software copyright regarding the “Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle Filling System”.

He is a highly sought after speaker on Operations, techniques of Behavioural Safety and Production Safety of the gases production industry invited by Safety Bureau, Transport Bureau, Sinopec, Bank of China and Shun Fung Express etc. His motto is “Sufficient & Essential”.
